KDM Capture uses the following technologies for processing captured information:

  • optical character recognition (OCR) to convert image typed information into machine-readable characters
  • intelligent character recognition (ICR), provides comparison, logical connections, and checks against reference lists and existing master data to improve results
  • optical mark recognition (OMR) to capture information from predefined fields in questionnaires and other forms
  • barcode character recognition (BCR) to capture barcodes for the automatic recognition and filing

KDM Capture incorporates further components for subject indexing and to deliver captured digital information to the appropriate recipients. These include:

  • indexing, the manual assignment of index attributes used in the database of a "manage" component for administration and access
  • templating to provide entry forms that define the document structure as well limit the number of possible index values to provide logic in manual indexing
  • automatic classification to extract index, category, and transfer data autonomously based on predefined criteria or in a self-learning process
